WWW2006- the rock concert of the Internet world….

Whats this ? A rock concert ? No…, it’s WWW2006, the world wide web conference, currently underway in Edinburgh, Scotland (22-26 May). And from the looks of it, it sure does look like a rock concert.

For the uninitiated, WWW2006 is the annual bash involving the rockstars of the internet world, who will sit, deliberate and shape the future of the World Wide Web. It involves the world’s leading internet business leaders, technologists, academicians, key standards bodies et al. It is supposed to be four packed days of speakers, workshops, exhibitions, tutorials, panels and social events.

And my Uzanto colleague, Rashmi is attending the event. In fact, she has been invited as the keynote speaker for the session on tagging, which seems to be building up to be one of the most popular sessions there.

Wish I could be there as well…

BarCampChennai raises the ‘bar’ even higher !!

BarCampChennai is over and it was a SMASHING success. In term of the participants’ energy levels at the event as well as the quality of presentations showcased there, I think, BarCampChennai has succeeded in ‘raising the bar‘ for performance even higher than the Delhi event. It also shows that the small tech community in India has unleashed its firepower and you can ignore it, only at the risk of flowing against this (technological) tide.

A big thanks to Kiruba, Vijay, Adel, Ganesh, Narain and other facilitators for making this happen.

TaaZZa softlaunch rocks BarCampChennai

TaaZZa in Hindi (rather Urdu) means ‘fresh’ ; in the context of a news aggregator, it signifies fresh news being streamed to you as and when it happens. But having seen the demo of the yet to be launched website, I think TaaZZa also brings a ‘taaza’ set of design ideas to this domain.

TaaZZa is the brainchild of Arjun Ram, who belongs to Chennai but works in the US. He started working on the project three months ago and seems to have done a great job in the short time. TaaZZa’s tagline is ‘Desh-Videsh-Sandesh’ - I think it’s simple, catchy and appropriate for the target audience.
