Uzanto/SlideShare Geek Party Snapshots

The Uzanto/SlideShare geek party (openhouse) turned out to be a fun evening. We had 21-22 participants- a BIG THANKS to all for making it to the party. It was great interfacing with some amongst Delhi’s tech, startup & usability community. We have a small office but when tech enthusiasts meet, any space seems too big. Foods & beverages took a backseat as people were too engrossed in socializing.

Here’s hoping to more of such events in Delhi. The snapshots of the event are shared via slideshare.

An evening of socialising at the Uzanto Openhouse

images.jpgIts one of the rare occassions when the entire Uzanto/Slideshare team is together. This is an open invitation to all to come and join us for an informal openhouse on the 1st of Dec (time-6-9 p.m.) at our modest office premises in Green Park. On the agenda for the evening are snacks, gossip, socializing, geek-talk, startup-cribs and all other things of that ilk. Students, fellow entrepreneurs, usability folks, designers, developers- all are welcome. The idea is to meet in an informal setting on a Friday evening and network. And its planned at the end of the week, so that its easy for people to drop by.

Just add your name to this wiki, so that we can budget for space, chairs and off course, food.

Funding Options for Technology Startups

I was invited to speak at a seminar on entrepreneurship yesterday. It was held at The Scope Complex Auditorium in New Delhi and the participants included MBA students, academicians, entrepreneurs etc. I was part of the session on ‘Financing Options for Startups’ and here’s my presentation (shared via slideshare)

Here are a couple of brilliant articles on funding strategies for startups-

ValleyWag - How funding works:Startups are abandoning venture capital. Why?
NYT - For Start-Ups, Web Success on the Cheap

While the above articles are US centric, the essential dyanamics of funding remain the same even in India, hence they are definitely worth a read.

Mingling with the academic community was a welcome change from my normal routine. Something I realised was that when you have to speak publicly in front of a knowledgeable gathering, you are forced to rationalize and think through. This brings about greater clarity in your own thought process. I must confess that my own understanding of funding strategies is far better now than before.

Snapshots from TiEcon Delhi 2006

Here’s a bunch of snaps from TiEcon Delhi 2006 that I am sharing using slideshare. The event was great and I’ll probably update this post later with a detailed writeup. (the quality of the images is not very good, so please bear with me on that)

On a different note, this is the first time I am embedding my own slides into this blog using slideshare. Hope it works out fine.

TiEcon Delhi 2006…the DNA of growth

tiecon.jpg TiE’s annual Delhi bash is scheduled for 26th-28th October. The event is usually held in December, but this time it has been advanced to October. I shall be attending on the 27th and 28th. The agenda looks action packed; and there is the usual share of networking sessions, mentoring clinics, company showcases et al, not to forget cocktails & dinners. TiE has been steadily growing in stature in India and the event will surely be a reaffirmation of that trend.

This is likely to be my third TiECon and I can sense that TiE, which was originally dominated by IT/software companies, is outgrowing its tech origins and slowly becoming a body of entrepreneurs in general (and not necessarily tech entrepreneurs).

I hope to catch up with many amongst Delhi’s startup community. I’m looking forward to it.
